A Workshop on Learning, Technologies, and Modern Physics

Temenoujka Fuller

Formative Analysis

Phase II

In this phase of the workshop, the guest speaker presents a learning unit or content using technologies to provide information processing in understandable form. For example, in the pilot project, the learning unit was operations with signed numbers and number line. Students work to master information processing with objectives:

The results from a survey administered with the first three group measure the objectives of phase two of the workshop. The survey has 4 possible answers: strongly agree, agree, disagree and strongly disagree. About 50 students from 4 different groups were selected to participate in the study. The results of the survey will be used for improvements.

RESULTS: The survey shows that the workshop is working effectively for all students; however, there are levels of effectiveness which reflect the fact of diversity of students' prior knowledge and readiness. The last group of data shows that the presentation is improving at least few times. However, this should not mislead the reader; the presentation is still in the pilot level of experimental chain of discoveries, innovation and new actions. The workshop in phase II is extremely difficult and required an educational technologist with prior experience in both -- content matter and technology applications.
