History:  I wrote 138 mph after spending a day in traffic court last month.  It is the first half of a two-part short story told from opposing first person viewpoints: Reuben and Raymond Azarra.

Background: This is a story about the inequities of success in our society and rewards and trappings success bestows upon these two brothers.  The story also reflects in part our culture’s obsession with celebrity and success and how this obsession distorts our own self-worth.

Future Goals:  138 mph is still a work very much in progress and will eventually be added to Road Trips, a collection of short stories thematically connected by journeys of one form or another.

Climate & Culture:  It’s always beneficial for a writer to bounce an unfamiliar voice off an audience and to hear from their consensus what is working and what isn’t.  Fiction, like everything else, is a learning experience.
