History: I do not remember the exact date this poem was written, but if I had to guess, it was written in mid 2006. This poem went through seven drafts; however, the original title withstood all the revisions. At the time this poem came about, I was inspired by Rumi, the Sufi poet of love. While reading many of Rumi’s work, I started to reflect on the pureness of love. I tired to envision a kind of love that holds no reservation and to have the utmost respect for that love or anyone who exhibits that kind of love. ****************** Blue pearls – children and people in harmony with their inner child Sky – an open environment Clouds – hindrances Wind – a vehicle that brings about change Sun – a source that provides warmth, promotes growth, and generates energy Earth – the love relationship of ones self and others ************************** Background Self-reflection – I love this poem. It reminds me of the inherent good in all of us. It speaks of the journey we all took before many of us began consciously to feed our ego. Future Goal – I will try to get this published Acknowledgments I would like to thank Bill Alewyn, Dorie Rivera, Heather Moulton, Keith Eubanks, and Bonnie Gordon for their suggestions of how to make my work better. 05/02/2008 Casa Grande Arizona barrington.campbell@centralaz.edu Daily Triumphs
Blue pearls playing in the sky without a cloud to acknowledge their presence adrift in the infinitesimal splendor of the Giver’s love just happy to be without a care, without a bother.
Until the wind rushes to the west in a hurry to catch the setting sun, the invisible becomes real and the tide of its force rampages the outer crust of earth Yet the core never surrenders.
